I took my HP laptop to Cyber Exchange in Newport News for a problem I had with my battery, it occasionally wouldn't charge and would sometimes shut down. The guy at the front counter, David was friendly and explained that the power socket are problematic on this model and that may explain the problem I was having. David told me the technician who would be working on my HP was very experienced and I should expect a call to let me know the diagnosis. Within two days David called me back and let me know that the battery was OK and the power socket was causing the problem and they could easily and quickly have my laptop working again. After he told me the total price I immediately gave the go-ahead on the repair and David said he'd call back when it was ready. I went to pick up my HP a few days later and was VERY happy to see they'd not only made a great job on the repair but also cleaned it! (They're a dust-bunny magnet) All in all I'm very happy with the folks at Cyber Exchange. They didn't try to baffle me with things I didn't understand, I was told how much it would cost before they did the work and they didn't tack on any extra charges. (I despise that!) More importantly they looked after my baby. I am now a customer for life, these truly are a good set of people. I would thoroughly recommend Cyber Exchange to anybody. Not only do they carry parts for a lot of computers, the price I paid was under half I was quoted by Geek Squad.

I called and asked if they had a DVI-D to VGA adapter in stock and was told they did, so I drove 24 miles (round trip) with a friend to pick up this very-hard-to-find-locally computer part. When we got there, we were greeted by "T" and we told her what we were looking for. She confidently walked over to a hook on the wall, removed a small plastic bag with an adapter in it and handed it to me. It was a DVI-I adapter, not a DVI-D adapter. She told us that she had never seen an adapter like we descibed and after explaining the difference between the adapters to her, she got an nVidia graphics card and a DVI video cable and looked at the differences and saw what we were talking about and admitted that they do not have any. Determined not to make it a wasted trip we looked around and found some MS Office 95 CDs for a relatively low price. We asked if we would be able to upgrade to Office 2003 from that CD and were told that they upgraded to it from Office 95 without a problem, so we bought the CD. We then went to another store in search of the adapter and looked at the Office 2003 upgrades while we were there. On the box it clearly said that Office 97 was the oldest version you could upgrade from; so we returned to Cyber Exchange. As "T" was giving me my refund, my friend, who is autistic, noticed a colorful ad behind the counter. It showed the prices for DDR and DDR2 RAM on it. Though it didn't state a brand, it showed reasonable prices for DDR2 667 RAM, which he had been considering upgrading to. After seeing the prices he asked her if there was a noticable difference in performance between the DDR400 and DDR2 667 and she rudely replied that she had no idea, saying that she is just a mother who cares for her children, not a techie that would be concerned with performance and the most she does with her PC is checks email. We left the store hoping that the one thing we did buy there and kept will work, but we won't be going back unless it is to return it.
